The Supreme Committee for Delivery &
Legacy (SC) is investing in skills training for volunteers. Through
participation in SC events, our volunteers are also receiving invaluable
experience. In tandem with the skills they acquire, this experience will
significantly boost their future career prospects.
Organising volunteering opportunities also lets us get close to the people who are actively contributing to the future of Qatar and the surrounding region. They help us to spread enthusiasm for the 2022 FIFA World Cup™ and often provide insightful ideas on what we can achieve with the tournament.
One of our ambitions for the tournament’s legacy is to cultivate a lasting culture of volunteerism. Inspired by the teachings of Islam, there is already a great appetite for volunteer work in Qatar and the Middle East. The unique volunteering opportunities we offer will only increase that desire to help others.
One volunteer's story
Mahmood Al Mahmood from Bahrain was one of the volunteers at our Brazil 2014 Fan Zone. Alongside many others, he contributed to a memorable experience for fans, while learning new skills and watching the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ on the biggest screen in Qatar.
Explaining his decision to volunteer, he said: “Volunteering work is an act that the person is giving to his society and other people, without asking for any return.”
We hope that our FIFA World Cup™ preparations will result in many more people selflessly giving to their societies, creating a better future for all.
